Aske Skovmand Bosselmann is an associate professor and head of section at the Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO), University of Copenhagen, specialising in the socio-economics of smallholder farming and global agricultural value chains. His research focuses on coffee and cocoa in developing countries, covering topics from climate change impacts on coffee production to deforestation risks in supply chains. He advises Danish government ministries on sustainability and teaches on Illycaffè's internationally accredited master's programme in coffee economics.
Bosselmann and colleagues from IFRO published a report on how the EU's deforestation regulation (EUDR) has increased Danish companies' engagement in risk management in global value chains - despite the regulation's postponement to December 2026.
Bosselmann introduced the special issue of Geografisk Orientering on cocoa as a global commodity and its consequences for forests and smallholders' living conditions.
Bosselmann contributed to the book chapter 'Coffee - A Glimpse into the Future' (Academic Press, Advances in Botanical Research, volume 114) on coffee's future prospects.
IFRO published a new authority report (2025/01) with Bosselmann as co-author on sustainability and deforestation in global agricultural value chains.
Bosselmann and colleagues published an IFRO report on climate calculations in agriculture, including emissions in the coffee value chain (IFRO Report 2024/28).
