Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra
Pierre Dørge & New Jungle Orchestra is one of the most prominent ensembles on the Danish jazz scene. The orchestra was formed in 1980 and has since performed over 2,500 concerts in more than 60 countries - from small clubs to stages like Carnegie Hall and the Chicago Jazz Festival.
The music draws on traditions from Greenland, Africa, India, the Middle East, Bali, and the European jazz tradition, moving freely between tightly arranged passages and free improvisation. Improvisation, rhythm, humor, and intensity are all core ingredients in the orchestra's expression.
Line-up: Pierre Dørge (conductor & guitar), Gunnar Halle (trumpet), Jakob Mygind (soprano & tenor saxophone), Anders Banke (clarinet, bass clarinet & tenor saxophone), Kenneth Agerholm (trombone), Irene Becker (piano & synthesizer), Thommy Andersson (double bass), Ayi Solomon (African percussion), Martin Andersen (drums).
The concert at Gnisten features a mix of standing and seated places on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have a disability and need assistance getting in, you are welcome to contact Gnisten in advance.
