King Woman
American heavy metal band King Woman performs at Vega in Copenhagen.
King Woman is an American doom metal band from San Francisco, founded by vocalist and songwriter Kristina Esfandiari - initially as a solo project, later joined by guitarist Peter Arensdorf and drummer Joey Raygoza. The band weaves together doom metal weight, shoegaze texture and post-rock space, with Esfandiari's voice - ranging from a whisper to a full-throated scream - at the centre of songs that circle themes of religion, trauma and personal liberation. Their debut album "Created in the Image of Suffering" (2017, Relapse Records) and follow-up "Celestial Blues" (2021) have established them as a significant force in heavy underground rock.
King Woman played 22 concerts in 2026 according to Songkick, including shows in New York and Los Angeles in July 2026.
The debut album "Created in the Image of Suffering" received a new vinyl repress in 2026 via the British record shop Resident Music.
In February 2024, King Woman announced five West Coast shows in March - the band's longest tour since 2022.
