Planning for Burial is the solo project of Thom Wasluck, based in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and active since 2005. The music sits at the intersection of shoegaze, post-metal and ambient - dense guitar layers, hazy textures and an introspective, melancholic atmosphere. Wasluck handles every aspect himself, from recording and artwork to performing live as a one-man band. Albums such as "Desideratum" (2014) and "Below the House" (2017) established him as a key figure in the international underground.
Planning for Burial released the album "It's Closeness, It's Easy" via The Flenser - the project's first new studio album since 2017.
Wasluck announced "It's Closeness, It's Easy" and shared the first single "A Flowing Field of Green" ahead of a major summer tour in the USA.
The single "You Think" was released as the second preview of the upcoming album - a track that, according to Wasluck, survived an earlier scrapped version of the record.
Planning for Burial performed a live concert on July 27, 2024, which was subsequently released as an official live release.
A notable moment in the project's career was a performance at the Meltdown Festival in London, curated by Robert Smith from The Cure.
