Københavns Drengekor - Det Kongelige Kantori (Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir) was founded in 1924 by conductor Mogens Wöldike and stands as Scandinavia's sole representative of the European cathedral choir school tradition. Based at Sankt Annæ Gymnasium, the choir serves as the choir of Copenhagen Cathedral, singing at High Mass, Vespers and its long-running Friday evening concerts. Its repertoire stretches from early Renaissance polyphony to commissioned works by composers such as Poul Ruders and Per Nørgård, and the choir has performed at international festivals across the globe, with recordings on EMI and Decca.
The choir opens Randers Church Music Festival 2026 with a concert in Sct. Mortens Church on 26 September 2026.
The choir premieres the commissioned requiem 'At stirre på solen' by composer Morten Olsen at two concerts in Vor Frue Church and Odense Cathedral in March 2026.
The choir performed in November 2025 in La Sagrada Família in Barcelona together with Tölzer Knabenchor and Escolania de Montserrat.
The choir conducted a tour in Sweden and Latvia with accordionist Bjarke Mogensen in summer/autumn 2025.
As part of the 100th anniversary season, the choir went on a USA tour to Georgia and Tennessee in April 2025 and participated in the Georgia Boys Choir International Festival.
