Mariavesper (Vespro della Beata Vergine) is a large-scale sacred work by Claudio Monteverdi, published in 1610 and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. One of the most significant vocal works of the Baroque era, it weaves together motets, hymns and psalms in a rich mix of polyphony and early continuo writing.
