Michala Petri, born 7 July 1958 in Hobro, Denmark, is widely regarded as the world's foremost recorder virtuoso. She gave her solo debut at Copenhagen's Tivoli Concert Hall at age eleven and has since performed over 5,000 concerts globally. More than 150 works have been composed for her, and her discography of over 80 recordings spans baroque to contemporary and improvised music. Her many honours include the Léonie Sonning Music Prize (2000) and the Knight of the Dannebrog (2011).
