Swedish metal band Svartsot performs at Spillestedet Thy in Thisted.
Svartsot is a Danish folk metal band from Randers, formed in 2005. The band blends melodic death metal with bagpipes, whistles and mandolin, setting lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and medieval Danish history to music. They have released six studio albums, most recently the 2025 concept album "Peregrinus", and have performed at festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Graspop Metal Meeting.
Svartsot released their sixth studio album "Peregrinus" via Mighty Music, a concept album about a medieval crusader.
The album was released in the band's 20th anniversary year and was recorded by producer Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios.
Reviewers called "Peregrinus" the band's most ambitious and best release since "Mulmets Viser" from 2010.
Svartsot played a series of Danish concerts in January and February 2026, including in Odense, Rønne, Rødovre, Sønderborg, Fredericia and Aalborg.
Former drummer Frederik Uglebjerg briefly returned to the band in 2024 for a series of concerts, including Graspop Metal Meeting.
