Walt Weiskopf is an American tenor saxophonist, composer and author born in 1959 in Augusta, Georgia, based in New York. He launched his career with the Buddy Rich Big Band in 1981 and has since led more than 25 critically acclaimed albums, drawing on the lineage of John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins while maintaining a voice of his own. A long-standing member of the Steely Dan band, he has also recorded with Frank Sinatra and toured extensively with the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra. He has written seven respected books on jazz improvisation.

Weiskopf and his European Quartet are conducting their eighth annual three-stage winter tour with stops on the European and Scandinavian jazz scene in November and January.
European Quartet consists of Carl Winther (piano), Andreas Lang (bass) and Anders Mogensen (drums) - three of Europe's most sought-after jazz musicians.
The quartet concluded the third stage of the tour with concerts in Canada in April 2026, including in Vancouver.
