Operaen på Holmen is Denmark's national opera house and part of the Royal Danish Theatre. The building was inaugurated on 15 January 2005 by Queen Margrethe II, designed by architect Henning Larsen and funded as a gift to the Danish people by Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller. It has two stages - Store Scene and Takkelloftet - and hosts opera, ballet and concerts throughout the season.
