About the venue
The Opera House on Holmen is Denmark's national opera house and part of the Royal Danish Theatre. Designed by architect Henning Larsen and inaugurated on 15 January 2005, the building was a gift to the Danish people from the A.P. Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation. The main auditorium seats 1,700 and the house is home to the Royal Danish Opera and the Royal Danish Orchestra, staging opera, ballet and classical concerts. The foyer features light sculptures by Olafur Eliasson and bronze reliefs by Per Kirkeby, while the Takkelloft hall displays a large painting by Tal R.
