10-Day Building Course

småBYG is running a 10-day building course where participants construct a tiny house of 22 m² from foundation to roof - finished and ready to move into. Materials include wood, wood fiber, and clay. You'll be involved in every stage: frame, cladding, windows and doors, electrics, roof, insulation, loft, and clay plaster. Evening sessions include theoretical instruction as needed. On the final day, the house is sold at auction, open to both course participants and other interested parties.

Accommodation is in cotton tents with proper mattresses and full headroom in a meadow next to the building site - a five-minute walk from the beach. In the evenings, the group gathers in the common areas at Grobund Fabrik. If there's interest, a free day can be arranged with visits to Friland or Sundby Sawmill, sauna, or similar activities.

The instructor is Jonas, co-founder of Grobund and Højskolen Grobund, who has worked full-time since 2018 with sustainable building as a consultant and guest instructor at folk high schools, boarding schools, and youth education programmes.

Meals are served five times daily. Grobund's cook Solveig runs the kitchen and prepares vegetarian food, as far as possible organic. The course costs 13,950 kr. and includes accommodation at Blushøjgård and meals. Payment must be made no later than four weeks before the course starts.
