Community singing from Højskolesangbogen takes place at Sorø Bibliotek on Friday, 2 October 2026 at 10:30, with pianist Marianne Reiche leading the session. This October evening focuses on Carl Christian Bringgaard and his connection to Jeppe Åkjær. Sorø Bibliotek is housed in "the young gentlemen's courtyard" on Storgade - one of the town's oldest buildings, built in 1623-25 by Christian IV as a residence for his sons during their time at Sorø Academy. The library has occupied nearly the entire building since 1956. Marianne Reiche runs a series of three evenings at the same venue across October, November and December. Admission is 25-75 kr.

About the venue: Sorø Bibliotek

Sorø Bibliotek is housed in "de unge herrers gård" on Storgade - one of the oldest buildings in town, erected in 1623-25 by Christian IV as lodgings for his sons while they attended Sorø Akademi. The library has occupied almost the entire building since 1956, and the original half-timbering is still visible in the courtyard. Alongside books and digital services, the library hosts lectures, film screenings, music events and workshops; Sorø Bykontor (the municipal tourist office) is also based here.
