Sorø Bibliotek is housed in "de unge herrers gård" on Storgade - one of the oldest buildings in town, erected in 1623-25 by Christian IV as lodgings for his sons while they attended Sorø Akademi. The library has occupied almost the entire building since 1956, and the original half-timbering is still visible in the courtyard. Alongside books and digital services, the library hosts lectures, film screenings, music events and workshops; Sorø Bykontor (the municipal tourist office) is also based here.
