A Sound Wall

In this workshop, children and adults build a shared sound wall from recycled materials. Everyone starts by filling a brown cardboard box with one type of material - waste, natural materials, or other discarded items - and gives the box a sign describing its sound: crunching, soft, shrill, short, or long. When all the boxes are put together, participants play them as one collective soundscape.

The workshop is led by music anthropologist Eva Fock and runs Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 to 15:30 with a break in between. It is for all ages, but younger children need help from an adult.

The workshop is part of BIG BANG - an international family festival focused on music and sound. A festival ticket is exchanged at the info booth for a wristband giving free access to all activities and performances with available spaces. For performances with limited capacity, you can book a spot at the info booth upon arrival. The festival takes place at Amagers Musiktorv and in Amager Bio, BETA, Teater ZeBU, and Børnekulturhus Ama'r. Snacks and drinks can be purchased on site, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
