The Logic of Peace

Isabel Bramsen gives a lecture based on her book "The Logic of Peace", challenging the widespread assumption that war is the realistic choice and peace is unrealistic. She demonstrates how peace processes typically begin on a small scale - through cautious approaches, relationships, and the willingness to meet, even when conflict seems entrenched.

Using examples from history and the present day - diplomatic negotiations, demonstrations, and unexpected tactics such as sex strikes and cigarettes - she illustrates how peace can be created through concrete action. Bramsen is a lecturer and head of Peace and Conflict Studies at Lund University, where she researches diplomacy, dialogue, and nonviolent resistance.
