Menopause has historically been an overlooked topic in both research and healthcare - but that is changing. A major Danish study has just shown that 97 percent of women experience symptoms related to menopause. For many, this involves hot flushes, sleep problems, joint pain, physical exhaustion, mood swings, and concentration difficulties that affect both quality of life and work.

Four of Denmark's leading researchers in the field present the latest knowledge and new Danish recommendations on hormone therapy: Maria Hybholt (lecturer, research leader at KiSO), Lasse Gliemann (lecturer, research leader at KiSO), Terese Høj Jørgensen (lecturer, research group leader), and Anette Tønnes Pedersen (senior physician, clinical lecturer).

The programme covers, among other things, results from the KiSO Survey - the first nationwide questionnaire study of women's experiences during menopause with over 153,000 participants and the largest of its kind internationally. Additionally, the physiological changes in the body are discussed, including the increased risk of cardiovascular disease, as well as the social science and identity aspects of being a body in transition. Senior physician Anette Tønnes Pedersen reviews the new, evidence-based guidelines for menopausal hormone therapy, which the Danish Society for Obstetrics and Gynaecology published earlier this year.

🍷 A glass of wine is served during the break and is included in the price. All lectures are in Danish.
