Sarafina Kimø

About

Sarafina McPherson Kimø is an Aarhus-based social artist and activist working at the intersection of food systems, community building and sustainable cultural change. She runs fermentation workshops using local, seasonal ingredients, weaving in storytelling about human relationships with ecosystems. In 2023 she founded Fermentorskab, a biweekly community gathering in Aarhus focused on fermentation and shared meals. Kimø is also a member of the artist collective Useful Art for Communities at Institut for (X), and has collaborated with organisations including Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke and Aarhus Festuge.

  • 2025-09

    Kimø and Fermentorskab participated in De Cirkulære Dage in Domen in Aarhus (1-6 September 2025), an event about circular solutions in the food system, organized by Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke.

    Aarhus Festuge 2025 invited Kimø to a co-creative masterclass on the future of plant-based meals together with, among others, Matthew Orlando (Endless/NOMA) and the Michelin restaurant Domestic.

    Kimø held free fermentation workshops at DOKK1 in Aarhus with a focus on local ingredients and microbial diversity.

    Fermentorskab was founded in November 2023 after Kimø won approximately 3,000 kr. at the crowdfunding event Aarhus Soup to get started.
