VEGA is one of Denmark's largest music venues, housed in a listed 1956 building on Vesterbro designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, who also designed the Radiohuset. Originally called Folkets Hus, it reopened as a music centre in 1996 as part of Copenhagen's year as European Capital of Culture. The complex holds Store Vega (up to 1,500 standing), Lille Vega (up to 500 standing) and Ideal Bar, with around 350 concerts a year spanning rock, pop, hip-hop, jazz and electronic music.
