Thomas Korsgaard returns with his first novel in five years: The Cake Suppliers - a story about the love between a mother and son, and about how difficult it is to break free from the limitations that poverty and prejudice create.

The kitchen is the center of life in the home of 11-year-old Tommy Sørensen: quarrels, teasing, and serious conversations between his mother Carina and father Henning, chaotic mornings with three younger siblings, and visits from Aunt Bettina with her own tea bags in her handbag. But when Tommy's many sick days cause Carina to lose her job as a cleaner, the kitchen opens up to something new - for Tommy's mother has other skills.

The novel is a portrait of a woman seen through a child's eyes: about impossible circumstances and boundless imagination, about poverty, pride, craftsmanship, and determination. And about how a woman who is not considered much in society's eyes can be a hero in her son's.

In the meantime, Korsgaard has published short story collections and children's books, and written drama for the Royal Theatre. The Cake Suppliers is released on October 9 - meet him in Præstø on October 12.
