Based on his latest book "The New World. After Revolution and Conservatism", Niels Grønkjær gives a lecture on a period best described as a time of transition. The narratives of progress, freedom and development that have shaped the modern world - and which emerged from Christianity and were used to legitimize world conquest and political power - have lost their grip.

Using philosophy, theology and the history of ideas as tools, Niels Grønkjær examines how the idea of a new world has shaped modern humanity's self-understanding. And he poses a fundamental question: Can humanity find itself at home in the world again?

The event takes place in the Auditorium at Sorø Library. Coffee and tea will be served - feel free to bring your own cup. The event is organized by Sorø Folkeuniversitet; questions can be directed to fusoroe@pm.me.
