Dark Funeral are a Swedish black metal band from Stockholm, founded in 1993 by guitarists Lord Ahriman and Blackmoon. Rising during the second wave of black metal, they have released seven studio albums - from their self-financed 1994 debut mini-CD to 'We Are The Apocalypse' (2022) - and remain one of the genre's most enduring acts. Lord Ahriman is today the sole founding member still in the band.
Dark Funeral announced the live album 'A Beast To Praise' (recorded in Stockholm in 2022) for release on August 21, 2026 via Century Media Records.
Lord Ahriman confirmed that the band is close to finishing songwriting for a new studio album - the follow-up to 'We Are The Apocalypse' from 2022.
Lord Ahriman underwent his third rib surgery in March 2025, shortly after the band's Latin America tour - no shows were cancelled.
Dark Funeral completed their first European headliner tour in eight years ('Let The Devil In') with 21 shows and celebrated 30 years of their debut mini-CD.
The band re-recorded their self-titled debut EP from 1994 and released it as a 30-year anniversary edition via Century Media Records.
