Lecture on Søren Kierkegaard
Sorø Bibliotek, Sorø · 50 kr. · ≈ 7 €
Kierkegaard's philosophy and major works: Tuesday 2 February 2027, 18:30–20:30, Sorø Bibliotek, Sorø. Tickets cost 50 kr.
Kierkegaard's philosophy is no cheerful affair. It is not only difficult to read, but also psychologically heavy, and it is unfortunate when he is reduced to a happy humanist with a simple answer to how one realizes oneself. He is neither easy to follow nor to understand, for he advocates an infinitely demanding understanding of Christianity, where the demands can sometimes seem inhuman.
Yet his body of work contains large parts that are relevant and inspiring, even for those who do not wish to follow him all the way or accept his melancholic view of the individual's life task. His texts challenge us to think about who we are, how we live, and what choices we make.
In the lecture, Kim Leck Fischer guides the audience into Søren Kierkegaard's authorship. Drawing on some of his central works and concepts, he provides an accessible introduction to the ideas of one of Denmark's most prominent philosophers - ideas that still speak to us today.
